Your online application has been received. Congratulations on your decision to join GANA! Your next step is to pay the $100 annual dues (if you have not already) via the PayPal button available here: http://www.goldendoodleassociation.com/join-gana/ If you reach the blue ribbon status at any time during your membership, you will get the next year’s membership dues waived when it is due.
GANA assigns a mentor to all new breeders to help you with any questions you have about the procedures outlined later on this page. Your mentor is Donna Schlosser and her contact info is included in the checklist at https://www.goldendoodleassociation.com/new-breeder-checklist/
Feel free to ask for assistance throughout this process from health testing questions, finding breeding stock, and things such as registering your first GANA Goldendoodle litter. You are welcome to contact any board member and the Registrar for assistance at any time as well. If you are an apprentice, you are not required to have a website, warranty, or dogs to register at this time. Please familiarize yourself with the following information as these steps will come into play as you begin preparing to breed for your first litter.
Your next step is to send a copy of your warranty to Bria Freeman at firstname.lastname@example.org. This same warranty must also be displayed on your website. Your website and warranty will be reviewed for compliance with GANA’s rules. Please allow 5-7 days after submitting your warranty to Bria for feedback on approval or edits that will need to be made.
GANA only accepts AKC pedigrees on the purebred parents or a DNA panel through Wisdom or Embark to prove ancestry. For Goldendoodles, you will need to provide the AKC pedigrees on the closest purebred ancestors and a written diagram on the lineage of the Goldendoodles you are registering. GANA does not accept CKC pedigrees (Continental Kennel Club). Send copies of the AKC pedigrees (Poodles and Golden Retrievers) and health testing completed on your parent dogs (Poodles, Golden Retrievers, and Goldendoodles) to the Registrar at GANApetregistrar@gmail.com. You also have the option to snail mail them to GANA, 5154 Milo School Road, Great Cacapon, WV 25422. If you use the snail mail option, this will delay the registration process.
GANA understands that puppies you have retained may not be fully health tested at this time, but you can still register them and submit health testing as it is achieved. Just remember, you cannot breed a dog until it is registered and the required health testing has been completed and submitted! There is a $15 registration fee for each parent dog you register for three or less dogs. There is a price break for more than three dogs registered at the same time, so it is more economical to register them in groups. You can see instructions, pricing and pay via PayPal under the “Registration of Breeding Dogs” option on this page: http://www.goldendoodleassociation.com/join-gana/
Once the Registrar has built your pedigrees in the GANA database, your website and warranty have been approved, and your dues have been paid, your official GANA pedigrees will be mailed to you. At that time, you will receive a listing on the GANA website with the appropriate basic, red, or blue ribbon indication and a logo made specifically for your kennel to post on your website. Until then, you do not have the rights to display GANA’s name on your website or social media. Once your logo arrives, GANA requests you also place a link to the GANA website somewhere close to where that logo is displayed on your website. This helps GANA’s site to be more visible in the search engines which benefits all GANA’s breeder members.
Another perk that GANA provides is an an invitation to join two GANA Facebook groups. One is a tool to collaborate with other members and the other is an Educational Library. The groups are private, so only GANA member breeders will be able to see what you post. This invitation may occur sooner than you receive your logo and ribbon level, but again… you are not a full GANA member until you complete the entire list of membership requirements, have submitted ALL health testing and received communication from the registrar that your testing on dogs of breeding age is complete. When GANA has important information for you, it will be posted in one of the Facebook groups as well as via a mass email. To get access to the GANA Breeder group and the GANA educational library, please add Karen Serianni as a friend on Facebook. After she accepts your request, she will add you to both groups. If you don’t hear from her within a few days, please reach out to her directly. You can find her Facebook page here- https://www.facebook.com/karen.serianni. Please note that if you are applying for a breeder membership (not an apprentice membership), you will not be granted access to the Facebook groups until you have registered your current dogs and your website and warranty have been approved.
Upon completing the kennel application, you had to check a box stating you have read the following:
In applying for membership or renewal of membership, I pledge that
1. I have submitted an application or request to renew my application to be an Accredited Breeder with the Goldendoodle Association of North America (GANA)
2. I have read and understand the GANA Mission Statement.
3. I have read, understand, and agree to abide by the Breeders’ Policies and Guidelines, and the accompanying disciplinary penalties.
4. I have read and understand the Health Testing Requirements to become either a GANA Red Ribbon Accredited Breeder or a GANA Blue Ribbon Accredited Breeder, and I agree to complete and maintain all required health testing of all Golden Retrievers, Poodles, and Goldendoodles used in my breeding program. If joining at the basic level, I understand I will have one year to increase the health testing on all my breeding dogs to a minimum of the red ribbon requirements or my membership will be suspended.
5. I understand that my membership may be suspended or terminated should I fail to comply with any of the terms hereof, or as they may, from time to time, be added to or amended.
It is common for new applicants to check the box without reading all the information. I would just like to give you a reminder that your understanding of the items above will avoid rule violations that could affect your membership.
If you are in need of a website, you can send a message to InfoQuest at email@example.com for professional development. There are several templated website development tools on line and most hosting companies provide those tools so you can do it yourself. Here are a few other options as well: Matthew Freeman Email: firstname.lastname@example.org, 970-799-4587 and Dave at https:// www.snb-tech.com and his email is email@example.com.
I know this is a lot to take in at once. Please refer back to the checklist we mentioned above at https://www.goldendoodleassociation.com/new-breeder-checklist/ to find the contact information for your mentor.
Again, Welcome to GANA!
